The number of credits required for earning an M.Div. degree differs depending on the program itself. In general, students should earn between 72 and 106 credit hours which translates to between two and three years of full-time study.
The difference in credits lies in the minimum number required by accrediting agencies and the desire for certain schools to provide their students with a more comprehensive education.

Online M.Div. with Two Tracks: Pastoral Leadership & Adaptive Leadership

Eastern University offers two tracks designed for the different needs of its students.
- First, the Pastoral Leadership track is for students who want to pursue ordination in their respective churches or whose calling is in pastoral ministry.

Mercer’s Master of Divinity program is 100% online. McAfee School of Theology is the newest program on the list, with the application period for Fall being open. Students complete the coursework over four years with 6-7 credit hours every semester during the fall, spring, and summer terms every year. While it has the longest duration, its structure allows students a well-rounded balance between their studies, work, and ministry.
The program, which covers theory and practice, is all taught in a rigorous curriculum and practical experience. The program has several concentrations, such as:

The program can be completed in 7½ years for part-time students and less than four years for full-time students. There are four terms every year, with courses spanning 12 weeks.
